Isolated from the Crowd

She made an unexpected advance

Fool I was I took a chance

As if hypnotized in a trance

Life’s death defying dance,

Thought I could bounce back

But Cupid’s arrow has a knack

Seems my reasoning was a bit off track

Everyone could get her in the sack,

Like flying blind in the clouds

Dead men always where their shrouds

Mistakes you made getting loud

I’m forever isolated from the crowd,

The fool who lives by his dreams

A victim of his own self destructive schemes

Now no one’s there or so it seems

Sometimes I laugh when I want to scream,

I never thought history could be so cruel

Especially mine in my own duel

Who could be the biggest fool?

I always took the bait right on cue,

And if I smile by some remote chance

Watching existence pass within a glance

One more icy cold romance

Life’s death defying dance,

Thought I knew what I was doing

Like a child on a swing

Careless, free and thrilling

Never knowing what the future brings,

Can’t blame the sun for shining

So much for wining and dining

A researcher with disastrous findings

So much for silver linings,

I watched the little ballerina prance

Dreaming of just one more chance

But for this bizarre circumstance

Life’s death defying dance.
