I have been using 9.10 for a long time, now I need to start updating my software to 10.04 for the latest security and bug fixes. 9.10 will only last so long, but it's best to update your versions more often. Linux is being used in the GCC engineering's Radio Science Labs since Sept 2009, cause of WIndows giving up the ghost. Microsoft makes bad software, and I cannot afford to have my computers fixed and reformatted cause of some stupid virus, spyware. It has happened to me many times. I have got infected with various viruses, spyware, adware, cause of poor windows security called Windows Defender. It is so true, DCS stands for Doesn't Catch Stuff or crap. All of my computers are fixed with 9.10 and soon will be upgraded to 10.04. There is another OS called Linux Ubuntu Studio and it has a alot of features, but I have to wait a while or get another barebones PC. I have not used WIndows for a long time. I will be switching permanantly as soon as I get better at it. There is nothing that i need from junk called WIndows XP, Vista, and number 7.
I have been using my netbook with Linux Ubuntu 9.04 for a long time. It works great on the netbook. There was a blog about Windows being prone to being hacked, its in the blogs section. If you just got a netbook and you just caught a virus or a severe error and is getting tired reinstalling the damn thing. Just login into the website and get your
netbook back into life. Microsoft is very prone to spyware, adware, malware, viruses, worms, but Linux ubuntu is not prone to these bugs hitting the computer. If you know about computer programming and want more apps then you can download apps from the synaptic package manager all of them are free and interesting to use. I went to download my apps and they do not contain any spyware or adware like Windows apps
do. Internet browsing is much better and you can still get java apps and flash content still available. GCC engineering PC's will eventually have linux on of their PC's. Linux
is open source and does not require crazy keys or passcodes to activate. You can simply
go to a torrent site and download yourself a desktop version. For Desktop: Ubuntu 9.04
Desktop Version For netbook : Ubuntu 9.04 Remix Edition
