Just North of Dallas
The shadows are calling out to me
As the night falls all the way down to the sea
Voices whispering in my ear so gently
Waiting for my consciousness to flee,
Is there no way out of here?
Nothing is as it appears
All their intentions seem unclear
As through nocturnal waters I steer,
Love is a fair weather friend
Probably won’t be there in the end
No matter how much of your blood you send
No matter how much upon you they depend,
A tear that leaves ripples in a pond
Feeling those losses as they go on and on
What of those painfully broken bonds?
In the big picture you’re nothing but a pawn,
Telling myself what I should do
During the day it seems I have no clue
Support is far between and few
Loyalty and trust are all askew,
Somewhere in a celestial palace
Drinking ambrosia from a holy chalice
Is a princess who loves without malice
But I’m stuck in this room just north of Dallas.
