Dear Friend of Liberty,

Thanks to your hard work and tireless dedication, we’ve delivered some big blows to the statists’ plans.

Last week, Harry Reid’s efforts to silence free speech with the DISCLOSE Act were halted, as your calls and emails helped reinforce the opposition.

We’ve got politicians so worried about backlash
that the powergrab known as Cap and Tax has also been delayed until
after the August recess, when Harry Reid will be even more desperate to
cater to
special interests before the election.

And Big Labor’s attempt to devastate volunteer firefighting by sneaking through the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining bill on supplemental spending legislation was thwarted in the Senate as well - for now.

To them, these are only temporary setbacks. It’s up to us to make sure these ideas are permanently retired.

Now our legislators are coming home
for their August recess, and we’ve got a prime opportunity to let them
know the pressure is only going to get more intense from here on out.

The freedom movement has accomplished amazing things over the last couple of years, but we still have our work cut out for us.

If there’s one thing you can be sure of, it’s that both House and Senate leadership will not rest until they have crammed DISCLOSE, Big Labor’s agenda, Cap and Tax, and more down our throats.

Matter of fact, Pelosi is already calling the House back briefly during the August recess to approve additional billions in bailouts and so-called
“stimulus” spending – more of the leadership’s “when there’s a problem, throw money at it” strategy.

While your representatives and senators are home, be sure to visit their
townhalls, write letters to the editor, call in to local talk shows,
and even stop by their district offices to let them know how you feel
about the direction they’re taking this country.
