The Ku Klux Klan's request to burn a cross in Atlanta's Stone Mountain park has been rejected days after violent and racist clashes erupted in Virginia.
Joey Hobbs wanted to hold a 'lighting ceremony' with 20 Klan members to mark 100 years since the group's so-called revival, it has been reported.
But the Stone Mountain Memorial Association denied his request, citing trouble at a 'pro-white' rally last year.
A carving on Stone Mountain's north face depicts three confederate figures during the American Civil War: Jefferson Davis, Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson.
