Like We Never Met
Drifting through a sea of lies
Hearing all the echoed cries
My guilt in it I cannot deny
The illusions of those who deny,
What’s left of life you cannot buy
They’re out to get Mister Nice Guy
You get out of bed only to hear her sigh
When you first met her you were shy,
The reflections that come and go
The struggles of life part of the show
You have to get up blow after blow
The toxic seeds we all sow,
That once good old faithful feeling
Now needs critical healing
Now you’re begging God as you’re kneeling
Out of body experience you’re on the ceiling,
Playing the false identity game
The rules have changed it’s no longer the same
The war of love stake your claim
You were vulnerable and thought she was tame,
My little doll from the China Sea
Did it feel good to betray me?
Always so restless and unhappy
You could never just be free,
To think of my trust now only jokingly
Life and love don’t seem my cup of tea
Cruelty and treachery just leave me be
Just lay me to rest lovingly,
The starship will launch just as planned
Enchanting the audience like a tight, cohesive, band
Mesmerizing the adoring fans
Unlike caving in to terrorist demands,
You will go on like we never met
What you stole from me will be your safety net
Can’t help but have my regrets
Perhaps I haven’t learned from my lesson yet.
