Never More

At times like this

I tend to ignore the serpent’s hiss

There seems to be a general lack of bliss

Tell me Mister, Is there something that I missed,

Before we met never knew I’d regret

How easily women forget

Every gesture seems an immediate threat

Life is based upon a narrow bet,

And if it’s true everything comes back to you

Then why has so much evil come into view?

Is it a curse to be one of the enlightened few?

I might as well be a bum on the avenue,

Can’t forget about the sensation of love

A sanctuary from the push and shove

A glimpse into what perfection is made of

Fits over your soul just like a glove,

The simulation I feel and see

That’s far from liberating me

Just a hologram to a parallel degree

An illusion that’s not quite my cup of tea,

Where are you now?

Just another self-appointed sacred cow

Just a shot fired across the bow

More impressionism than I can allow,

I can’t buy into the dream anymore

Thought I knew what life was for

Where are all the ones I loved and adored?
