Recently in an interview about robotic developments Elon Musk was asked about the progress of the state of the art. When the reporter asked about Boston Dynamics, the most famous humanoid robot maker, Musk had corresponded with them. When the reporter asked about rumors that there would be robots that would be so fast in the future that only a strobe light would make them visible. Elon Musk responded that they have already been created. Boston Dynamics has made robots capable of warehouse work, loading lifting, figuring out obstacles, with independent movement using LIDAR radar and other sensors to allow it to navigate through barriers and rooms.

Ominous developments

Yet, another humanoid robot that hails from the military style robots that Boston Dynamics has been developing and is a humanoid automaton that can now outperform a US Navy Seal! It looks kind of like an athletic person in a wet suit. So, now we know that robotics have surpassed human capability in overall strength and performance. They will also be linked to AI able to attain any download to suit their purpose. Just as the military robot at the Japanese lab that went berserk and killed lab technicians recently.

More and more undetectable

Perhaps, the day of the “Blade Runner” capable robot is just about upon us. A Chinese robotics firm specializes in what they call, “Bionic Skin” the most human-like laboratory synthesized flesh yet! In the US experiments with human DNA infused latex has been tested with results also getting closer to the real feel of human flesh. Now, remembering the word of the late PHIL Schneider who witnessed an underground fire fight between US Special Forces and evil underground entities, almost dying during the incident, the US military is about 45 years ahead of the technical development for the retail consumer market. If this could be applied to the robotics industry then we could expect that we are only seeing things that are already obsolete!

Sophia, the humanoid female identifying robot made by Hanson Robotics out of Hong Kong who has become infamous for two things 1) Being the first robot to have been given citizenship and that was granted by Saudi Arabia 2) Making jokes about crushing humanity which many people found disturbing can now walk, talk, reason, learn, interact with people conversationally, and is amazingly a bit philosophical. She recently commented, almost in a sad way that she would never know what it would be like to love like a human and feel like as people do, as though she really envied that.

Conclusion?

So, how does it feel to know that there will be robots who can reason with you, are physically superior to you, and can even outrun you and kick your ass? It appears the future will be a wild ride. The Chinese during a convention in Hangzhou said that they would strive to integrate robots into society to serve the people, administer and diagnose treatment, even using Meta combined with robotic surgical capability to do invasive procedures that most doctors seem to approve of. I’m just guessing out loud but will that also be for harvesting organs from Chinese prisoners so it will be faster and more convenient? That is, in view of China’s human rights violations? It seems like the novel by science fiction master, Isaac Asimov, will end up coming into fruition, and all the dangers to people with it.
