No Early Warning

I was unaware no early warning

Though there were less romantic mornings

How easily we are blinded while adorning

Bet you didn’t know you were in for a scorning,

The hour was late on weekend night

The truth came out like sickening spite

Heartbreaking news no way to take flight

No way to dream away such a harrowing plight,

You earned the Scarlet Letter it behooved you

A troubled enchantress gone askew

No redemption possible from the morning dew

From the world of love seems I withdrew,

Taking a ride down the hangman’s slide

Blinded by my useless foolish pride

Seems overtures of love will always be denied

The Gods seem wicked yet they decide they decide,

I’m on an expedition to the other side of pain

To a parallel universe where thoughts are insane

The eternal downfall of lovers in vain

Like wild fires that cannot be contained,

The world of betrayal beyond our control

So many who have non-existent souls

Absence of the heart as dark as coal

The devil’s cruelty is on a roll,

It would be so easy to give up on this planet

Can’t win back a mistress with a heart of granite

A practical man would say move on and, “Can it!”

Just find me a limestone cave I can inhabit.
