Now he's after the Trekkie vote! Obama gives Vulcan salute in Oval Office during Star Trek icon's visit

Barack Obama undoubtedly shored up his support on the distant Vulcan homeworld when a photo of him emerged flashing the Vulcan people's signature hand salute.

In the photo, the President posed in the Oval Office with original Star Trek cast member, Nichelle Nichols - aka Lt Uhura of the Starship Enterprise.

Nichols shared the photo on her Twitter with the Vulcans' signature words: 'Live long and prosper.'
