Footage of NYPD Hatchet Attack Suspect Moments Before Assault
The New York Police Department released CCTV footage of a hatchet-wielding man moments prior to carrying out an attack on two police officers in Queens, on Thursday, October 23. The assault left one officer in critical condition. Two other officers with the policemen returned fire, killing the suspect and injuring a bystander.
The woman, an unidentified 29-year-old, was in stable condition at Jamaica hospital, according to NYPD Police Commisioner Bill Bratton.
The woman was “accidentally struck by a bullet in her lower back,” said Bratton to reporters.
Police continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.

- Thompson has a criminal record in California and was discharged from the U.S. Navy for misconduct but authorities have not revealed his record nor have they detailed his Naval discharge
