One Last Smile

I can’t remember what I came to earth for

Seems I landed way offshore

No angel to pick me up off the floor

Am I ready for whatever comes through that door?

Why has arriving at the truth become such an ordeal?

Aside from the video games do you even feel?

Most people today are on an uneven keel

They’re challenged to define what is real,

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are on their way

Thought I saw them riding just today

Does it really matter anyway?

Just listen to the things that you say,

Disinformation from every direction flies

It seems today that the truth is disguised

Between the rioters and the White House spies

No wonder my beloved country is compromised,

To all the women who abandoned me

A toast to all that makes you think you’re free

Betrayal can be traced all the way back to an apple tree

What will be left for the future generations to be?

In another life you were in distress

Prisoner of a pirate in your torn dress

I liberated you none the less

I had to kill your captor I must confess,

We set sail back to Great Britain you recalled

The ship even survived a squall

An officer of the Crown I was headed for a fall

But you were worth it through it all,

The plague in London took so many

We needed precious medicine but there wasn’t any
