Storm Cloud up Ahead

No guarantees from the promise land

Only politicians with blood on their hands

Held hostage by energy from foreign sands

Don’t any of you really understand?

Trying to make sense of a world gone mad

So much different than when I was a lad

It now takes more strength than I ever had

Take a look at the faces so overwhelmed and sad,

What would it be like just to sleep with you?

Someone to love me the whole day through

All the fools who haven’t got a clue

In a troubled sphere that has gone askew,

In the modern day where truth is denied

In a land where even the president has lied

Where atrocities and corruption are justified

A pop culture where common sense is defied,

Think I’ll row a boat way out into the sea

Where no one will ever find me

While others labor under the illusion of being free

There’s simply nowhere else to flee,

I think I see a great storm cloud up ahead

It seems we anticipate the future with dread

Now that all the heroes have fled

You wrestle with all the demons in your head,

The sun sets on a child’s dreams

Their innocence absent of plots and schemes

But nothing is ever as it seems

Deep in my nightmares I hear their screams.
