Orrin Hatch Appeases the Oil Volcano gods*

Orrin Hatch Appeases the Oil Volcano gods* Dead Man Musings --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Sales of seafood from the five states bordering the Gulf of Mexico totaled $660 million in 2008, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service. But while the local impacts in the Gulf states could be devastating, the rest of the nation might not see much of an impact. That's because most Americans shop for seafood at supermarkets rather than at fresh fish stands, and supermarkets get most of their seafood from overseas, according to Gavin Gibbons, a spokesman for the industry-sponsored National Fisheries Institute.

Big and small buy imports

"[More than] 83 percent of seafood is imported," he says, "and that includes 90 percent of all shrimp. So, while the seafood that comes out of the Gulf is iconic and people ask for it by name, broadly, it doesn't have the same impact in terms of sourcing for big grocery store chains." (Source)

More worrisome is the fact that the massive oil slick could shut down our Southern Ports and the entrance to the Mississippi river.

"About 60 percent of the grain exported from the U.S. goes through the Southwest Pass. If the spill delays barge traffic going down the Mississippi, prices for corn, soybeans and wheat could rise quickly on global markets, said Greg Wagner, a commodity analyst." (Source)

As Americans look towards Washington for an immediate solution to this crisis, and fair compensation, they need to understand why neither will be forthcoming. Hurricane season will be shortly upon us, and those that come through the gulf will undoubtedly transfer huge amounts of oil from water to land. Damage would be exponential. Yet, Senators like Orrin Hatch, are nothing more than company spokespersons for Big Oil.

"On another topic, the massive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Hatch called it an "ecological disaster" but defended government regulators with oversight of offshore drilling.

A new report blasted the U.S. Department of Interior's Mineral Management Service for a cozy relationship between the agency and the oil and gas industry.

"I don't think that's a fair appraisal," Hatch said. "The fact of the matter is this is kind of a one time, very unusual explosion that's tragic, but very, very difficult to contain." (Source)

To understand Hatch's reticence on the subject we must turn towards his fundraising activities. He took more than $78,000 in contributions from Big Oil.

$7,000 from Anadarko Petroleum (Major Oil Company in the Gulf)
$5,000 from BP America (Gave $1,000 back)
$9,000 from Chevron
$5,000 from ConocoPhilips
$14,000 from Exxon (Gave $1,000 back)
$9,000 from Halliburton (Gave $1,000 back)
$6,000 from Marathon Oil
$5500 from Occidental Petroleum
$3,000 from Shell Oil
$2,000 From Society of Gasoline Marketers
$5,000 From Tesoro
$5,000 from Valero Energy (Oil Refineries)
$2,000 from Denbury Resources
$1,000 from IPA Wildcatters

By now you are wondering just what kind of influence $78,000 plus has with Orrin Hatch.

1. Hatch voted yes on legislation for a $668 billion dollar spending bill that includes this provision: "Specifies that the funds appropriated in this act are not subject to a prohibition on use for offshore oil and natural gas preleasing and leasing (Div. A, Sec. 152). (Source)

2. Hatch also voted against Alternative Energy Tax Credits (Source)

3. Hatch also voted against a tax on windfall profits for big oil companies, reducing the foreign tax credit on importing oil, allowing big oil companies tax credits for developing alternative energy, prohibits "price gouging", prosecutes market manipulation and puts some restraints on the commodity exchanges. (Source)

4. Hatch also voted no on increasing alternative fuels and higher miles per gallon requirements on automobiles. (Source)

You can see the rest of his votes on energy related issues here.

It is also important to note that big oil is owned by Illuminati Banksters and their Globalist allies. One thing that has not been mentioned is the impact that the Gulf of Mexico oil slick would have on the United States in the event of the coming Global war between the East and West. Perhaps this is the true purpose of this engineered catastrophe and our government's failure to take it seriously.
