Orthodox Church To Unveil Ark of the Covenant?

The Orthodox Patriarch, Abuno Paulos, wants to reveal the millennial secret, and in an exclusive interview with Adnkronos said, "The time is ripe to tell the truth." A museum for the sacred symbol will be built in Axum.

This was said in an exclusive interview with Adnkronos by the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia, Abuna Paulos, in Italy for a "G8 of religions," who tomorrow will meet for the first time with Pope Benedict XVI, to whom, "if he asks," continued the Patriarch, "I will tell all of the entire situation regarding the Ark of the Covenant."

I find this interesting primarily due to having read Graham Hancock's book The Sign and the Seal, about his fascinating Journey to find the Ark of the Covenant. While highly speculative the historic evidence he compiles leads one to believe that maybe there is indeed something to it which is essentially his own conclusion at the end of the book, a big but fascinating maybe.

The short version is that the orthodox priests of the Ethiopian city of Axum claim to have the original and genuine Ark of the Covenant. Almost any Christian from Ethiopia (and I have personally spoken with many Ethiopian immigrants on this point) will tell you that this is indeed so and that the Ark was brought to Ethiopia by the Queen of Sheba who was an Ethiopian Queen.

The Ark is brought out only once a year to be viewed by the faithful of Axum but it is covered by a ceremonial cloth and only the priest designated as it's guardian is allowed to view it uncovered with his own eyes so confirmation of it's authenticity is more than a bit difficult.

If correct, however, the location of the Ark of the Covenant is a closely guarded secret known only to about 145,000,000 (the population of Ethiopia) people or so at minimum.

The significance of revealing the Ark could lead the way for rebuilding the Temple in Jurusalem for the Jewish community to place it in. It could possibly lead to Muslim acceptance to the Temple being rebuilt. We all know about the prophecy and significance of the Temple being rebuilt...don't we?

It's not much of a distraction merely off topic and from my point of view archeologically interesting. It's symbolic associations from a religious point of view do not concern me at all aside from being part of the lore associated with the object.

For all I know some ancient Hebrew figured out how to make an Egyptian style Leyden jar that got wrapped up in a lot of priestly propaganda. The number of speculations on the arch's true nature for those who have tried to approach the possibilities scientifically are too voluminous to fully list but some I have run into include, it's a giant capacitor, filled with a radioctive substance, filled with a hypothetical form of mono-atomic gold, and many more. It would be interesting to see if the "ark" at Axum is indeed a technological device of the appropriate antiquity.

Of course a lot of Christians, Jews, and Muslims would likely take the fact that God didn't immediately jump out and start to tap dance on their faces as proof that it was not the "real" ark.

I've been fighting the NWO for many years now and if I indulge in a bit of archeological geekery now and then you'll just have to excuse me.

I wouldn't be so sure the Vatican would automatically have it if it exists or would even know it if they did. After all a few years back the Vatican retained several of the worlds top archeologists to search for the burial place of St. Peter. They worked for three years and finally found a plate set into one of the floor stones of St Peters Cathedral that says "Here lies Peter, Apostle, Martyr" so they pried up the floor stones and, sure enough, find a tomb. Seems to me they could have found it quicker by asking the cleaning staff.

On the other hand I always did tell people I want to be pope just so I could get my hands on the keys to the Vatican vaults - heaven on Earth for a true archeology or sociology geek. Just the stuff from South America could keep a researcher finding out new information (at least new to non-Vatican insiders) for several lifetimes I bet.

Thanks Tweek, try reading the whole thing while highly speculative the book offers quite an interesting romp through ancient history. It's a wonderful tale of a journey rather than a destination.

It most probably is bullshit since the medeivel world claimed enough pieces of the true cross to build a wooden cathedral out of them but interesting nonetheless.
