Pardon Me if I Stare
What was and will never be again
Where are all those friends?
They claim time will always mend
All the lies I’ve endured hard to defend,
Strolling in a park beneath a sky of blue
Can’t figure out why I dreamed of you
That alternate reality all askew
Visons in the night come into view,
Entities that don’t belong appear
Sharing the same atmosphere
This world is locked in orchestrated fear
That threatening face you see in the mirror,
Cutting through the invisible tension with a blade
The paranoia was tailor made
You left when you should have stayed
There’s no truth we’re always being played,
And so it is as I lay in my bed
Wrestling with all these thoughts in my head
The rest of the world trembles in dread
The opiate of the masses they’ve been fed,
The memories that are irrevocably there
Just misery to be shared
Is that a super nova that just flared?
A glint in the universe someone else’s nightmare,
Just try to speak the truth if you dare
The satellites are dead another solar flare
For many life has become too great a burden to bare
I’m at the ancient crossroads pardon me if I stare.
