Since the Twentieth Century and even further back in world history there has been a continuing piece of dogma used by hostile leaders of Communist and totalitarian governments so that they could rationalize the bloody seizure of lands of bordering states. Millions of innocent civilians as well as soldiers have died needlessly thanks to the brutal ambitions of regimes incapable of managing their own economies so that war and the takeover of another neighboring country seems more expedient. The distraction from failures at home, the imposition of a false political ideology is always a great motivator for the cannon fodder about to die, while the apparent noble gesture of “reunification” is implemented.
A fallacy used over and over again
Reunification qualifies as the “Big Lie” that Joseph Goebbels of the Nazis explained as effective propaganda simply repeating an outright lie for your own political leverage until it is finally accepted as truth. This is exactly the premise of the word “reunification” implying that entering into war with another nation state that bears some cultural and political history in common thus giving the aggressor the right to wage war with the intent of reuniting two peoples from across the border. In reality, it is nothing but an excuse to use force as a hostile form of annexation, hiding that crime behind verbiage and ideology. The Communists worldwide have done this for decades telling the people of North Korea they are righteous in attacking South Korea. Ho Chi Minh telling his people that North Vietnam had the right to terrorize and finally conquer South Vietnam resulting in the deaths of millions all for the vaunted goal of reunification.
Same lie different ruler
Joseph Stalin did much the same thing to build the stolen territories of other nations into the Soviet Union. Using massive propaganda campaigns, terrorism, and finally military intervention, the USSR became, “The Evil Empire” as Ronald Reagan said to denounce their human rights violations and oppression of their own people. A grim reunification of satellite countries all united under a red background with a sickle as a flag design, a symbol of oppression. Shared poverty and fear dictated the lives of millions of peasants forced to work for the state, own nothing, and fear the surveillance of “Big Brother” or even being turned in by a neighbor or child acting as an informant. The infamous Siberian salt mines and the Gulag marked the dreaded end result of speaking out against a tyrannical system of soul crushing Communism all under the aegis of reunification.
Same lie different term
Prior to World War II the Japanese in the occupation of several island chains they were fortifying and converting into airfields as they oppressed the island tribes used a different phrase with the same deceptive implications claiming to be bringing these Asian offshoots “Into the Fold”. Claiming that they were basically bringing long lost Polynesian and southern Pacific Asians back into the fold or reunification with Japanese ancestry when, in reality, they would be using these people for whatever resources and labor they could get out of them with an impending war at hand. The bloody pages of human history are stained with the misleading terminology of indoctrination used to gain trust for those with evil intentions. Even in the present day we see modern leaders with a romantic notion of reunifying regions that have been caught in bloody conflict to be brought back together again in regions such as North Africa and the Middle East, all under the aegis of reunification.
Could an old nemesis re-emerge?
Vladimir Putin has made the statement several times that he would like to resurrect or reunify the former satellite countries that have become separate nations back into the former Soviet Union. Being a former KGB officer for 16 years during the “Cold War” era has conditioned his mind set into thirsting for former moments of glory in his mind that no longer exist as the Russian Federation. Putin’s present invasion of Ukraine, the reunification of former Soviet states such as Georgia and Crimea show his hand in the poker game of geopolitics. The big question is-holding NATO and the rest of the world hostage over the threat to use nuclear weapons, a cunning strategy or is it a path to warfare more deadly then man has ever known?
Death by unity?
As we speak Communist China refusing to allow the Nationalist Chinese on the Island of Formosa to remain independent look to conquer Taiwan by force in the near future. Day by Day Chinese fighter jets and bombers intrude upon the ADIZ forcing interception missions by the Taiwanese air force. Once again, under the bloody lie of "Reunification" Communist China with 800 missiles aimed at Taiwan by 2012 alone seeks to invade, bomb, and blast their way into a renunified posture with Chiang Kai-shek's re-established territory in the aftermath of losing a civil war with the Communist Chinese under Mao Zedong in 1949.
