Before Kazaa or Napster, I found that by searching google for mp3 + parent directory and the name of a band or song, I could download music for free. Within a few months, all those personal sites were password protected, but I did get hundreds of my favorite songs. My best haul was from a royal, the Duke of Edgeburgh. He then closed his site, sirwilliam . com. I guess people had to pay something when they up- or downloaded files, but probably not much.

Not so good old days....but only technology wise.
