Prisoner Exchange
The world has grown alien and strange
That doesn’t mean that I’ll change
It seems common sense has been rearranged
Living life today is like a prisoner exchange,
I refuse to just give in
Compromise too many times is a sin
Remembering when I used to ask, “Where have you been?”
Wondering when did I last win?
Life passing me by like a train on the tracks
While somewhere in the world are terrorist attacks
Unhappy people but there’s nothing they lack
Infidelity to them is like a midnight snack,
Trying to make sense of it all
The proud fools before the fall
The few who choose to stand tall
Had control of my fighter jet until it stalled,
Wish I had all the answers here
Trying to comfort widows and their tears
Greeting an uncertain future with fears
You were always intentionally unclear,
Within the shadows of the catacombs
Come the worshippers of the battle zones
You won’t find compassionate chaperones
Just laboratory synthesized clones,
Who to turn to and who to trust
Wake up friend your own country just went bust
Critical thinking is not an option it’s a must
Civilization blown away by a nuclear wind gust.
