In our secular science oriented world we are told that the presumption of modern day findings is completely reliable and not subject to question, yet we find contradictions frequently whether due to mistaken identity or for political purpose we find that the scientific declarative cannot always be trusted. We find that such men as Ivan T. Sanderson, Loren Coleman, Doctor Grover Krantz, and Lloyd Pye have paved the way into establishing new paradigms of inquiry.
Straight out of a horror movie!
Ivan T. Sanderson, former World War II British intelligence officer, biologist, paranormal investigator, and cryptozoologist made compelling discoveries that often preceded his colleagues by decades. One such subject were USO’s whose findings predated reports and their investigations by decades. While Ivan was in South America on the banks of the Amazon River an incident badly frightened him. During the evening he was shining a lantern along the shore searching for some species he was studying when he looked up in time to see a giant bat flying straight toward him. It was only a split second leap into the river that saved him from being snatched and carried into the air! His report went public and for a time even Hollywood began a series of fictional films about the “Devil Bat” The most famous one starred Bela Lugosi of Dracula fame. Ivan T. Sanders was a scientist and trained observer so his testimony was given considerable weight. A segment of the once popular “Jungle Jim” show starring former Tarzan actor and Olympic champion swimmer, Johnny Weissmuller, featured a story about the Devil Bat.
A real life monster!
In 1959 Belgian Helicopter pilot Remy Van Lierde took an amazing photo of a gigantic snake in the Congo on the African continent. He reportedly described that giant reptile as being so long that when it raised up into the air it narrowly missed grabbing the landing gear with its mouth. He worried that had that happened that the beast would have pulled his helicopter down and crashed it! One might recall that for years African tribes have described a river monster in the same area named Mokele Mbembe, thought to be a surviving dinosaur, perhaps the Brontosaurus. The indigenous people of the region claim that the creature sinks dugout canoes and kills those unfortunate enough to be where this legendary beast lurks.
Dreaded amphibian
All along the Pacific stretching into the waters and rivers of Australia are the hazardous territory of the crocodile! This 65 million year old survivor of the age of the dinosaurs is a much feared amphibious hunter that strikes as an ambush predator of the muddy rivers and even along the coast, but many people do not realize that this huge reptile hunts on land at night when temperatures cool and has been known to drag people out of their tents who have been camping at a distance off the shoreline. Unlike the alligator of North America who us equally deadly but not quite as big-usually no longer than 18 feet long, there have been gigantic crocodiles up to 26 feet in length captures because they were killing and eating humans close to riverside villages. In Australia where river boat tours feature crocodile sightseeing the huge creatures have been known to attack the tourist boats and occasionally capsize independently owned motor boats when an unsuspecting boater ventures into a feeding territory of a very large croc.
Feared by almost all animals
In the rivers of Africa where crocodiles take down Zebras, Wildebeests, water buffaloes, gazelle, and sometimes even lions any animal drinking water in the heat of the day at the edge of the shoreline, is subject to a sudden vicious attack that will lead to their brutal death. The only animals that don’t fear the crocodiles are full grown Hippopotamus’s who are real life monsters themselves. Lions often confront the crocodiles who will occasionally back down from the “King of Beasts” but lions hate entering the muddy waters of the African rivers in fear of the mighty amphibian, the haven of the deadly crocodile.
Savage attacker
The jaws of the crocodile when snapping shut generate one of the most powerful bite forces of any animal on the planet. Once this beast has its jaws locked onto its prey it goes into what is known as a death roll. This motion tears its victim to pieces so that the animal can swallow whole chunks of the prey as they do not chew very well. Moving with the stealth of a submerged submarine, the crocodiles allows only its eyes on the surface as it waits using sensory organs along its snout to pick up vibrations from animals crossing the water. This real life monster than closes the distance between itself and its victim silently before its ferocious attack.
Run amuck
Currently in Florida the Burmese python has been creating havoc in towns near the Everglades. With some snakes close to 20 feet in length it is thought that there may be giants if they can survive long enough to feed and grow to their full potential. It seems that in the Florida environment the python has no natural predator because they did not originate there. Exotic pet owners or Pet Store-bought animals were discarded in Everglade waters once the snake had gotten too big. Reports of huge Burmese Pythons getting into the plumbing of people’s homes and coming out the toilets are common. People living in high rise buildings in New York to small village septic systems in Indonesia have been terrorized by the huge snake making an unwelcome visit. Not only are they a constrictor who kills its prey by squeezing it to death after wrapping itself around the victim, but they have a nasty bite with hooked needle-like teeth too.
In Part III we will further explore real life monsters.
