Road to Infinity

The night rolls in like a black fog

Darker than the pupils in the eyes of a dog

Dreams begin when I start sawing logs

A sanctuary from life’s daily flogs,

Somewhere there’s asylum within time and space

In all my wanderings this is the only place

Cocooned in my dreams far from the rat race

There’s little left for me to embrace,

Like a booster rocket escaping the gravity of my mistakes

These are just nocturnal illusions for heaven sakes

What a difference a few deep dreams can make

Before awaking to reality’s earthquakes,

I really wonder if I will ever find you

That heart that beats so gentle and true

All the work of the devil in full view

It seems everyone’s lives are all askew,

Dolphins chattering in a deep blue sea

A God who would actually forgive me

Living without having to fight or flee

Yet, it all becomes such a mystery,

Oh my Darling can’t you see?

Only the truth can set you free

False promises and lies naturally

That bitter taste in my tea,

Just another fool on the road to infinity

Where nothing is lost and nothing is free

Then I hear my own voice, “Where is she?”

We’re all alone each in varying degrees.
