Rumble of the Illusion
I twist and turn in the depth of the night
Wondering why I can't seem to get it right
Life is an illusion as seductive as any beauty
As we fight our battles to be free,
Feeling this weight upon me
Like an iceberg in the sea
All of them that were leaving
A crown of thorns for the king,
Through their icy stares profanity
Lie the delusions of so many
Cannon fodder for their slave masters
As they believe in fake disasters,
Somehow hanging onto faith I hear
The sounds of lies and fear
Your parties with ballgames and beer
As losing your freedoms draws near,
In a faithless world I stumble
All of my mistakes before me so humble
Yet the fools brainwashed only mumble
Storm clouds in the distance rumble,
Look down upon this fool with mercy
Perhaps with a burial at sea
There is no salvation with a fee
You've discovered in the illusion there is no glee,
Her flowing hair her smooth skin
Remember you were invited in
Was it really love or just a sin?
Inside this illusion from where you've been,
A deserving fate I must admit
Belated wisdom from where I sit
No my estranged love don't have a fit
It's the illusion from which you have been bit,
Excuse me if I've begun to think clearly now
I stopped being led around like a cow
Like a shot across the bow
An illusion is a meaningless vow,
I twist and turn in the depth of the night
Wondering why I can't seem to get it right
Life is an illusion as seductive as any beauty
As we fight our battles to be free,
Abandoned by the ones you love
Is this what illusions are made of?
Maybe you could use a gentle shove
Is this compassion that came from above?
The voice of love I can almost hear her now
I wonder why you're angry never asking how
The sweat and blood of the plow
Oh dear Mistress please take a bow.
