(Derek Wood) - If you have followed this blog (which you should, of course), you've probably noticed a good share of police misconduct articles. It's not my fault, it's not as if I'm obsessed with it, it's just out there. At an alarming rate. (For stories like this and more- follow me on twitter: DerekWood
The standoff at the Sandia foothills, in New Mexico, that resulted in a homeless man, James Boyd, being gunned down, is now gaining more attention thanks to police chief, Gorden Eden.

During a news conference on Friday Eden discussed the fatal shooting of 38 year old James Boyd in a standoff with police officers two Sundays ago.
“Do I believe it was a justifiable shooting? Yes, if you follow the case law, Garner versus Tennessee, there was a directed threat to an officer,” Eden said.
Mayor Richard Berry called those comments a "mistake." “I think he was asked an honest question and I think he gave what he thought was an honest answer,” Berry said. “ I think he’d been briefed in some detail at that point but I think it was a mistake for him to make that judgment.”
The Sandia Foothills shooting is still under-investigation. Mayor Berry is calling for an expedient investigation.
