The reflection in smooth arctic ice
As life dissolves with one more slice

This thought has occurred to me
For believing her soliloquy

Trembling in the coldness of this world
Teeth chattering as each moment is unfurled
It’s all those insults she regularly hurled
A slender body with which I once cuddled and curled,
Try if you will to overcome
Even if experiences have left you exhausted and numb
A rattling from deep in the woods and an ominous hum
Just when you thought you were far away from the chaos and scum,
Just when you thought you had the girl under your thumb
All those promises prove when the chips are down you have no chums
All those betrayals that eventually leave you deaf and dumb
Just give me the asylum of a guitar that I can strum.
