Senators Demand the Military Lock Up American Citizens in a “Battlefield” They Define as Being Right Outside Your Window

[…]

The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. Even Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) raised his concerns about the NDAA detention provisions during last night’s Republican debate. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself.

The worldwide indefinite detention without charge or trial provision is in S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, which will be on the Senate floor on Monday. The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

@Anonymiss: Congress? Off the top of my head the term "son of a bitch" comes to mind...for all of them.

I don't have time or desire to go in depth on these things, but just to name a few:

1. Raping Social Security to pay for their bullshit.

2. "Insider trading" practices are common-- hell, I hear they pass legislation to profit from in corporations that they are investing in!

3. Reckless spending for decades without any desire to pay it back or balance the budget

4. Voting pay raises for themselves without asking taxpayer permission

5. Reckless spending of their expense accounts. Example: One Congressmen charged us to replace a beautiful collection of law books lining the walls of his office with the exact same ones because he didn't like the color of them.

6. Secretly passing various pieces of legislation "after hours"

7. Knowingly voting on bills that they haven't even read.

Need I go on?

And here I am thinking that was quite rude. How would you have put it?

The poison didn't kill Schroedinger's cat, curiosity and a wondering mind did, that is, if it died at all, and it seems it did not:

@Anonymiss: No offense taken. "A bunch of farts" running our country is a Hell of a lot more polite than I would have put it ;)

I apologize for the TL;DR sentence. Ranting and raving has that effect on me. Sorry.

Yah, Even I was somewhat flabbergasted when I found this.

Seen from Europe, your country is not that much different from Egypt ... it's all about a scramble for personal profit and power. I do not wish to offend, but it seems to me you have a bunch of farts running your country.

Farts, masters at "survival adaptability", surreptitiously seeking out leadership as a way of ensuring their own survival and for the power behind it, in a system that allows them to not have to deal with distasteful emotions such as citizens and other peoples with inalienable rights, and a dogmatic insistence on things having to be a certain way, their way, triggered by their survival adaptability.
