St. Paul's
has just announced that rather than evict protesters from the cathedral grounds at #OccupyLondon, they will try to engage constructively about moral and ethical issues.
Protesters have been camping outside of St. Paul's cathedral in London for weeks. The church has been considering pressing legal charges against the protesters - an internally controversial decision that has spurred the resignations of the church Dean, 2 clerics and canon chancellor. One cleric who already resigned noted that the cathedral's opposition to the protest signaled they were “set on a course of action that could mean there will be violence in the name of the church."
Indeed, it probably would have been easier to just evict the protesters. But morally and in the face of the public eye, it would seem unjustified the church seem to have decided. The right choices aren't always the easy ones.
