Sucking Souls Dry

Peering through the plum trees

At a blue sky as infinite as the sea

Dreaming that you were waiting for me

Biding my time in unrealistic fantasy,

The mountain tops are distant and white

My comprehension of human frailty tonight

My ability to detect lies seems rather slight

Perhaps the reason why no arms to hold me tight,

Dreaming on the astral plane

So far from heartbreak so far from pain

My emotions now in the passing lane

Outdistancing government that’s gone insane,

You’re the crystalline illusion I found

Devoid of truth and totally unsound

You made me feel as though I were profound

From that point on you always put me down,

The tormented fools who suck souls dry

Still they’ll blame it on you and I

Attracted like moths to the light in the sky

They feed on true love until it dies,

How could any of us know right from the start?

That we’ll end up with a dagger in the heart

The world now as it is way off the charts

The disturbed people who prefer to be apart,

In a gravity pit and I haven’t been able to move

Time stands still silent and removed

Nothing can compare with being loved and soothed

But for those who for some warped reason disapprove.
