U.N. Agreement Should Have All Gun Owners Up In Arms

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?

While the terms have yet to be made public, if passed by the U.N. and ratified by our Senate, it will almost certainly force the U.S. to:

  1. Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
  2. Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
  3. Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull – one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
  4. Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.
  5. In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.

Don,

It is really unfortunate that only the bad-guys and the always-too-late police forces will be armed.  Even a pocket knife can save your life if needed.

I am currently in Brazil and was vacationing in the North East a few weeks ago in a city a little larger than Chicago.  If it wasn't for carrying a small locking blade, I'd likely not be writing this today.  All over the world, there is a lot of unemployment, poverty, mis-guided youth and drugs.  And those that become criminals are eager to take what you may have and do you harm.  At the very least individuals need to do is ensure that these crimes don't befall them.

Criminals prefer easy pickings of the un-armed.  So a person needs to protect him or herself and if need be, explain the methods later.  In my case, the cost to victimize me was too high for the two rogues and they decided not to engage.  No explanations were needed - situation averted.  Had it not been for a folding blade, things would have turned out differently.

Steven,

Much as I like your sentiments on the matter, I get the feeling you haven't actually read the Public Law 97-280 as it passed through Congress.  I'll post a link for your reference, but in a nutshell it resolves that the President can proclaim 1983 as the Year of the Bible and a year for appreciating scriptures.

That's it... that's all.  President Reagan subsequently made proclamation 5018 - The Year of the Bible.

I was thinking about this yesterday. If you think about it, just with "We the People's" private collection of handguns and hunting rifles "pinhead" (Obama) and his precious M1 Abrams can polish their nails and scratch their noses while we kick the snot out of most European countries. God Forbid ya throw in the odd flamethrower and mortar from our backwoods friends in Tennessee-- most Euro countries wouldn't know what hit 'em. Bet your ass they're scare of us-- and so is Pinhead.

Well If I owned a gun, I would at least be willing to give them my ammo!!!HOT and FAST! The UN and the us gov. has no authority over me. I am not under their jurisdiction! According to Public Law 97-280 the Congress of the United States of America says that the Bible is the highest authority in this country. Washed in the Blood Baby Washed in the Blood, and quite able to defend myself!
