The Epitaph of Mister Nice Guy

From the air above I hear a sigh

Makes me wonder if my whole life's been a lie

There's just no one stopping by

Then I ask myself why even try?

Funny how the little things you recall

Meant something to you but to nobody else at all

Listening for my phone but no one wants to call

It's moments like this that make you feel so small,

I remember love a long time ago

I remember the beauty of new fallen snow

It seemed that love and passion used to be stone's throw

There no longer seems any difference between friend or foe,

There’s no one stopping by no one stopping by

Is this how you slowly die?

The ones you trusted who turned out to be so sly

I'm in my darkest night this I cannot deny,

Reaching out for love in this despair

Just one lover who really cares

But we all know that the world doesn't play fair

Perhaps what we knew and thought was really never there,

All the illusions I finally saw through

Especially between me and you

Like the glistening of morning dew

It might as well have been a hole in my shoe,

The Lord provides for his birds in the sky

Yet it seems humans can never see eye to eye

At first my little enchantress seemed so shy

Remember to put that on the epitaph of Mister Nice guy,

Was I just a pawn on Life’s chessboard?

The great hunter who just got gored

The enchanted stone and the mighty sword

Baby if you’re not angry you seem so bored,

There are mysterious entities in the atmosphere

What their intentions are isn’t exactly clear

While the unconcerned sit back with their beer

They should take a good long look in the mirror,

Memory can be a curse or a God send

Does one nullify the other in the end?

I never really meant to offend

Too many out there playing the game of pretend,

Still nobody bothers to stop by

It’s so much easier just to comply
