The Foolish Few
Walking down the catacombs of recollection
Can love ever have a resurrection?
Well, I just don't know
Trying to ease the pain and let it go,
How does passion transform into new fallen snow?
These things I can feel but never know
Down these dark corridors I often go
Yet, I still come up with the sum of zero,
The lover who seemed like a gentle lamb
Seemingly part of a future plan
Becomes the enemy agent with a bikini tan
Enforcing a relationship ban,
I know I'm a fool with a vulnerable heart
Should have known right from the start
Someone else's woman seducing you tearing you apart
Blame yourself son, you weren't too smart,
She will go on to do the same to many more
While life for you will become a chore
When forbidden love comes knocking at your door
You will become Dracula's Igor,
Temptations of the flesh will never recede
Like water on the shoreline indeed
Right along with the romance novels she reads
All wise men take heed,
If only I knew If only I knew
The monotonous murmur of the foolish few
Don't worry brother your Karma is due
You'll have your cage at the human zoo,
To my difficult lover who walked away
My life changed course in a single day
Love has a way of making all of us pay
So useless, like begging you to stay,
Like taking an impulsive trip to Monterrey
Finding that the drug cartel was here to stay
It only took one bullet to stray
And all my worldly concerns went away,
Like singing in the midnight choir
Consumed by ungodly desires
A guest at my own funeral pyre
We are not long on this quagmire.
