The Lessons You Refused
Events that twist your life
Betrayal and heartbreak cutting like a knife,
When does it ever all become clear?
There’s havoc when the human heart is near,
Whatever happened to you my Dear?
You live your life and love in fear,
On your canvas brush strokes of pain
I can hear those cries so plain,
Those past events we’d love to rearrange
An existence without regret, does that seem so strange?
In life sometimes we win sometimes, we fail
Who will be the next White Knight you will impale?
Are you drawn to your own familiar personal hell?
Nice act you put on as the proper Southern Bell,
If it were just me, I wouldn’t care
But there’s too many people locked in their nightmare,
Human nature poised for despair
Did you really make us in your image? Was it fair?
The universe at our fingertips I do declare
Why are true masters so rare?
Reflecting quietly after the fatal plane crash
Some things you can’t buy your way out of with cash,
Spirits drifting in the wake of the aftermath
Will they experience God’s wrath?
Into the side of a mountain in a single engine plane
It all ended before a future of stardom could be gained,
Sitting in the back of a motorcade
A beloved president and a deadly game played,
All she ever wanted was romance by candle light
Had to fight the date rapist off with all her might,
The tremors of personal tragedy
Find me alone in bed at night in disparity,
The world all-around seems to be in a state of collapse
Because when it comes to history, we’re in a memory lapse,
Where are you now my lost over?
Now with a whole new world to discover,
Despite the love, you chose to spurn
You’ll be haunted by the lessons you refuse to learn.
