The Muffled Applause
Please oh Lord don’t disparage me
My own memories are quite enough to torment me
I saw someone lying along the avenue of pity
They needed a Good Samaritan in this decaying city,
Life has become a twisted trail
Sometimes all I can do is just exhale
You can no longer tell a female from a male
This broken world that evil has unveiled,
What is the greater travesty of justice?
The beauty that I often miss
Or the sound of a serpent’s hiss
Life wasn’t supposed to be like this,
When society turned its back on God
It opened Pandora’s Box to betrayal and fraud
Open you’re your eyes fools, doesn’t that seem a bit odd?
From the mental hospital I can hear a muffled applaud,
The implications of arrogance and pride
Has devastated America nationwide
The ghosts of a civil society abide
Might has well have exhumed Dracula’s bride,
Keeping watch on the perimeter tonight
Targets being painted with laser light
Adrenaline flowing to run or take flight
It’s a matter of retaining our rights,
I can’t quite remember anymore how
The fools here would do the bidding of Chairman Mao
Something in America has run afoul
While the sleepwalkers and traitors disavow.
