When I think of you my sky is no longer blue
The birds no longer fly and disappear from view
No glistening of the morning dew
Only raindrops off the tip of my shoe,
Unrealized dreams never meant to last
Why can’t I stop thinking of the past?
When I made that phone call I was aghast
The sea of tears is much too vast,
Can’t seem to straighten out my mind
No matter how much of your treachery I might find
How did I fall in love with one of your kind?
It seems my road in life has been mined,
The rules of love and war
How they impaled me to the core
Now I’ve no idea just what’s in store
Tell me what am I living for?
Although I know that I’m just a fool
A floating apparition in a wading pool
The fallen loser of a pistol duel
An organ donor in a medical school,
Don’t think I’ll ever find my way home
No matter how near and far I roam
Merely surviving beneath this heat dome
Can still feel the heartbreak right to the bone,
Lord take me if you will
It’s always been a test of wills
Seems the whole world will get its thrills
The walking dead will take their pills.
