This Troubled Land

Stepping on toes each and every day

Has to do with the things I say

Too many fools let the truth get away

I’m just trying to hold the liars at bay,

All I wanted was just to love you

But you saw love as glue

Losing romance in a sea of blue

It was all about the attention you drew,

Now everything has changed

My life is now rearranged

So common for spouses to be estranged

How hard it is now for love to be exchanged,

In this surreal electronic world of illusion

We live in mass confusion

Don’t speak your mind you could get a contusion

Why would God even strengthen their delusion?

Some say that love is blind

While others will say love is unkind

Is there some kind of truth I can hold onto and find?

Just trying not to lose my mind,

Oh Lord when I pray

Trying to get my country to last another day

Be that as it may

Too many fools have gone astray!

So long since I’ve been on a band

Will I ever again hold a loving hand?

As I walk across this troubled land

Lost footprints left in the sand.
