Thought I Meant Something
Rushing down the road of life
Breaking through the roadblocks of strife
Yet, revelations seem to cut like a knife
Thought I meant something to somebody even my wife,
Reflecting upon events that passed
Do we ever arrive at a conclusion at last?
We are so small in a universe so vast
Too many reasons to fly the flag at half mast,
Still the question I ask
Does reality wear a mask?
Who are those fools I should take to task?
Brandy in a crystal flask,
The pomposity of the elite
The unceremonious air they secrete
Self-delusional specter of their conceit
We long for the day of their final defeat,
Thought I meant something to somebody
Family, friends, or the great deity
As the world consumes itself in a frenzy
Nothing is fair nothing is free,
Only contemplation gives me this luxury
Wounded thoughts and satellite imagery
The joys, regrets, and irony of being a non-dignitary
Leaving me suspicious and wary,
I was once a prince of the contradiction
Now paying the price dutifully without benediction
Chemistry with a goddess of deviation
The curse of sin and the resulting deprivation.
