Too Long on My Own
Sitting here like a Red Wood watching life pass me by
Used to be a part of that “Pie in the Sky”
Emotions were sometimes low and sometimes high
It seems in slow motion as I try to keep my eyes dry,
Lately, I’ve gotten into anomalies
Paradoxes, rabbit holes and mysteries
Looming like the Sargasso Sea
Fossilized like petrified trees,
The interjection of liquid perception
A night sky enamored with glowing ejection
There’s always a turnout for the freak show election
You’re invited to my ultra-terrestrial collection,
Life is like probing a deep underground cave
Surprised by how many ways you can become enslaved
As you survive in a world that has become depraved
So many things overlooked and forgotten like soldier’s graves,
Like some unsung hero I cling to a knife edge
Have suffered through the lies that have been alleged
Wondering at all those wondrous promises pledged
But now the hour glass drains full-fledged,
Like a phantom in the night love has eluded me
A ghostly mistress of promiscuity
Leading me into a maze for perpetuity
Did I sacrifice my masculinity?
Like a crystal skull from an origin unknown
Still I’m here they can’t dig up my bones
All the sheep, cyborgs, mutants, and clones
For too long I’ve been on my own.
