Vague Recollections Still Remain
Not quite sure who pulled me down
Could have been the fool who wears the crown
Like an unknown soldier homeward bound
Navigating through a fool’s playground,
Got enough wine to kill the pain
But, I’ve got to get out of the rain
She was leaving clear and plain
Only vague recollections still remain,
I swear the world’s gone insane
Common sense all seems in vain
Going to Cuba to hack on sugar cane
Exchange my gold for a little grain,
Make an effort to keep your spirits up
Drink from a poor man’s tin cup
Remember the institutions are corrupt
Better exit before the volcano erupts,
Plenty of bad news so I won’t laugh
Another ruler’s foolish gaffe
Seems the time machine’s been cut in half
Never cared much for the golden calf,
The fascist people shouldn’t breed
They believe they’re the superior creed
They seem to have this sadistic need
The innocent will always bleed,
Think it’s time for me to leave
Don’t think anyone will be bereaved
Used up all the tricks up my sleeve
It’s better to give than to receive.
