A comparison of all the bribery, crookery, profiteering, nepotism, exploitation, and shady dealings of the public sector, by country
Every year since 1995, the nonprofit organization Transparency International has been publishing a "Corruption Perceptions Index" where countries are ranked--based on data from a several surveys and assessments--from 0 to 100, "0" being "totally corrupt" and 100 being "totally clean."
The group just released their 2012 data, along with several graphics. Among the interactives, which you can find on the organization's website, my favorite is this interactive wheel--I think it's the cleanest and sharpest way to see how one country compares to the rest of the world. Thismouse-over map is nice too.

Lol!! was waiting to see if anyone would say anything haha!!
The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be. It is a composite index – a combination of polls – drawing on corruption-related data collected by a variety of reputable institutions. The CPI reflects the views of observers from around the world, including experts living and working in the countries and territories evaluated.
I don't believe they have used the correct "polls" lol. And it's based on perceptions.. Which doesn't make much since to me either.
The CPI is an indicator of perceptions of public sector corruption, i.e. administrative and political corruption. It is not a verdict on the levels of corruption of entire nations or societies, or of their policies, or the activities of their private sector. Citizens of those countries/territories that score at the lower end of the CPI often show the same concern about and condemnation of corruption as the public in countries that perform strongly.
Further, the country/territory with the lowest score is the one where public sector corruption is perceived to be greatest among those included in the list. The CPI provides no information about countries/territories that are not included in the index. To me, this is an incomplete methodology.
"from the perspective of business people and country experts" Oh, there's the problem.. Country experts. Now that's funny.. I think they need better data sources.
I think its correct for the process they use to define the information. But just isn't as telling as one would expect it to be.
i dunno bout that one, the States are semi squeaky clean according to that w/ a 73 (higher#=cleaner rep) where as this republic is probably one the most evil and illegal systems in the world now.IMO must be one of those "lib" groups w/ BS facts ;)
