What was the IPG Authorized by General MacArthur?

The year is 1942. World War II is in full bloody swing. The Japanese are sweeping across the Pacific Ocean island nations and defeating the US Navy and its ally’s one conquest after another. In the wake of the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Indo China, Guam, Wake Island, and Burma have been invaded are within control of the Imperial Japanese Army. CINCPAC and the US Navy are desperately trying to gain a foothold against the onslaught in the surprise attack on the Japanese mainland by the B-25 bomber squadrons under the command of Jimmy Doolittle that have succeeded if only for morale purposes while the Battle of the Coral Sea will be the first time the Japanese have been stopped anywhere in the Pacific Under Admiral Fletcher and Task Force Commander Ray Spruance.

When the unknown leaves a message

Yet, as desperate as it seems with a string of Allied losses and the Pacific Fleet outnumbered more than 2 to 1 by Japanese carrier forces, a new threat seems to have manifested itself. “Foo Fighters”, as they are nicknamed, have made their ubiquitous debut on the scene. Both US pilots and the aviators of the Axis Powers are reporting unidentified sphere’s of light pacing their military aircraft. In many cases the pilots are alarmed at the presence unexplained aerial objects they can’t identify as friend or foe and these strange manifestations seem to exhibit superior flight characteristics! General MacArthur is concerned as well and orders the formation of the IPG (Interplanetary Phenomenon Group) a special intelligence unit that will investigate the mystery!

Worldwide sightings?

Not only in the Pacific but in the European theater of war, Foo Fighters had left their mark. One B-17 Bomber crew were terrorized by a Foo Fighter that seemed to pursue them as they were returning back to airfields across the English Channel after a bombing run over Germany. One report from the Pacific witnessed by an officer described an aerial flotilla of high altitude objects serenely flying over an intense battle between Japanese and US Naval forces unscathed by the salvos and anti-aircraft battery shells that sizzled through the air? Who were they? Where did they come from?

The bizarre puzzle

It is not known what became of the Interplanetary Phenomenon Group or the files of reports that were taken by intelligence personnel who interviewed pilots and other witnesses, but it’s probably fair to say that they did not arrive at any plausible explanations. Consider that Axis Forces as well as the Allied military suspected each other of having unleashed some top secret weapon that had taken both sides by surprise! To think that this investigation was undertaken in the midst of a huge territory under many different island landings and ship to ship sea battles might demonstrate just how concerned opposing forces were that someone or something was responsible for a mysterious chapter of the war!

The host of Influential players

In a few short years, American aircraft, ships, US Army Signal Corps, and even civilian airports would be dragged into an inexplicable dance with the unknown. The list of well-known generals who would be involved in the long legacy of UAP’s would read like a list of some of the most famous military leaders in human history such as Air Marshall, Lord Dowding, Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower, US Army General Nathan F. Twining, General Roger Ramey, Colonel Thomas Dubois, US Army General John Samford, and the first Director of the CIA, Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoeter, General Curtis Le May architect of Strategic Air Command, as well as even President Harry S. Truman just to name a few.

Conclusion

Each of these officials made telling statements to the press and the public that not only did they not adequately explain what was going on in the air space over the continental United States, but the only thing they could promise the people was that they did not think it would be a threat to national security. With the death of Captain Thomas Mantell over Godman Air Base in Kentucky in pursuit of a UFO in 1948, as well as the crash of a B-25 Billy Mitchell bomber and deaths of 2 USAF intelligence officers who were in possession of samples of a substance that had dripped off of a UFO just before they met with fate on Whidbey Island after the Maury Island mystery unfolded, that was a hollow promise in itself.
