Wish I had succeeded
The moonlight obscured by the trees
The starlight I can't even see
Praying to the Lord on bended knee
Will anything ever save me?
Once I thought it could be love
Some princess dreams are made of
But for the world of push and shove
No miracles it seems to rise above,
A demonic season of disbelief
My ship of dreams smashed on a reef
Hope was stolen in the night by a thief
Tossing and turning no relief,
Crows are screeching outside my door
Wish I had succeeded a little more
No longer kid's shoes scattered on the floor
No more picnics by the shore,
Smiling little faces on Christmas Day
Only memories now gone away
Begging their mother stay please stay
Then the hair begins to turn to gray,
Age devours time with the soul
Patriotism measured scarcely by a flag pole
Sincerity lost in a black hole
Loved ones lost taking a toll,
You were the one I thought would last
Leaving now such a shadow cast
A sailing ship with no wind at the mast
I was there to suffer because of your past,
Those rare moments when you smiled
Then it seems I was less beguiled
Sadly Dear you were so easily riled
Behaving as though you were so defiled,
Time will heal the wounds they say
Once every lover has faded away
Now I'm like a dog whose gone astray
Just let me lay here if I may.
