Crystalline recollections
A library becomes isolation row
A place to lay my mortal soul
Books certainly won't console
Where I play in the fatalistic role,
A collection of knowledge they say
Perhaps a good place to run away
Not like an empty house in which to stay
Watching squirrels dance and play,
Upon the porch of lost dreams
A setting sun that never screams
The futility of existence or so it seems
Flickering images on a silent screen,
The dancing ballerina of dawn
Drifts above the night now gone
The passage of eternity goes on and on
Ghosts of kids playing on the lawn,
Crystalline recollections so fragile
Unlike enduring this morbid exile
Desolated on this remote isle
Oh sorceress stay with me a while,
Imprisoned mannequin with a golden stare
Looking for love but no one's there
A stark reality with no one to share
The memory of your skin smooth and bare,
Often confused as a child
Shielded from a world corrupt and wild
Sometimes rejected frequently reviled
Funny how the insane often smile,
Groping through life with tormented hands
Sifting through forgotten sands
I used to live with her selfish demands
Few admirers even fewer fans,
The cloven tongue of evil men
Never gone they're back again
Catch me lurking in the lion's den
Enlightenment only now and then,
Diving down into the sunken wreck
Mistakes in my life what the heck
It seems that fate has you by the neck
Betrayal dumps you on the deck,
Pour that drink with Triple Sec
Numbing you the desired effect
A husband thoroughly hen pecked
A midnight train on a pointless trek,
Gliding across a black lake
More chances than I should take
Isolation kills for God's sake
Desperate sounds the victims make.
Comment
Thank you Cheeki Kea have a great weekend.
Another three great poems done Doc V. Just as awesome as usual and hard to choose a favourite but after some thought and re-reading this poem selects me. The images depict an instant feeling of isolation and undertone to the poem as the descriptive elements are gradually brought forth providing visual impact in the minds eye that complements the impression and tone perfectly.
