I just did a call at the FCC, and I asked about part 15 transmitters and they said they have to be certified, well the AM station was not certified even though it was a lab kit
from Radio Shack. The station is now suspended the AM transmissions until we get a
part 15 certified AM transmitter on the air.
Why is this big ass government trying to regulate kit built transmitters? First why is part 15 allowed when it's illegal to transmit using a part 15 kit built transmitter. Why don't the FCC get every kit that is marketed certified with a part 15 FCC ID and the builder must follow the directions to build the kit properly. We just found out that even the one from Electronic Goldmine is very illegal to operate and it went too far and causes harmonics on even licensed radio stations. That transmitter has been suspended as well too. The transmitters will be reactivated after the FCC has given the approval that all devices can transmit without the certification.
This is another reason why Big Government makes this country a small country. Big Government has zombie agents in the FCC just to ask for your name and address. Well who cares about AM anyways, the quality sucks, and they should come out with a FCC certified AM transmitter for hobby use. I thought certification was for companies who want to make a circuit get it tested at a lab and then get a sticker slapped on it saying the FCC ID and the note saying this device will not cause interference and will accept any interference that causes undesired operation. Well so much for the good old days of kit building, Now big government wants to know about every radio station being built and rejected.
When I talked to the person on the phone, she did not sound like none of the people that should work for the FCC, she knew about part 15, but did not really know part 15. FCC should have a survey telling how bad the service is, soon I will file a complaint on the complaints board.
