I was looking at AM transmitters, most of them were very expensive and out of my price range. So I went back to Ramsey Electronics, and I was looking at their kits. I found one that is suitible for my needs. The AM 1 transmitter project kit. The kit only costs about $34.95, but shipping might be steep. Anyways this transmitter has frequency coverage of 540 kHz. If you look and download the manual you will see why I need this station. This maybe a small step away from the home brew 200 In One lab kit experiment, still I must keep it as a back up just in case this transmitter does not function properly. They have a FM stereo transmitter, but its not that good, but I will try to get one for 88.3 FM after I get this transmitter first. Main problem is keeping the darn thing on frequency. I have been down that road before. I guess that is were a frequency counter comes handy. I guess I will keep the Sony tuner with a "tuned" feature handy, then I know it is tuned.

You can simply start your own radio station with these starter kits. As long you have a mixer and microphone. You can start your own talk show, play music war programming or simply start a radio station just for the holidays. There are 4 kits from Ramsey and
Vectronics you can get your hands on. There are better kits out there. I will try to list to simple basic ones. here first, then the middle class ones, and then the rich ones at the last part.
