Geocities has alot of room to keep the sites online, but the problem is that they are scamming people and making people believe that geocities is shutting down due to
the loss of the economy. All Yahoo! has to do is upgrade their servers and also give
out more features for geocities and even fix the bugs in the Page building software.
The internet begins with Yahoo! Yahoo! was around since 1995 when the internet started, google started in 1997 I think, but google was like a college kids project like open source. Anyways, about Yahoo! they do alot of censor shipping and shut down Yahoo! groups that are getting big and some do not survive. Yahoo! is known to not keep their servers clean from viruses and spam cause everytime you check your email more spam comes along from Yahoo! Groups service and lets spambots get onto the servers and cause crashing problems and also some of the sites and services from Yahoo! induce spyware problems. Most pages created from activists get their account suspended or get shut down on geocities. So the way to shut down 10% of the internet, Yahoo! wants to shut geocities pages, which includes the GCC engineering website. Each every other day I work hard on my electronics hobby site, but Yahoo! wants to shut it down, NO WAY
my site is going on google sites now.
The GCC Engineering website is for Shortwave radio listeners, HAM's and various electronic hobbyists. If this site does not get backed up it will disappoint many SWL's and HAM's and also will loose group memberships. Soon Yahoo! will be planning on shutting down Yahoo! Groups and Answers, and other services, and then Yahoo! messenger. and they also said they are already shut down Yahoo! Brief Case.
If you're a Yahoo! user, please get on the phone and address your concerns about this
and how its making a huge impact on the way we use the internet.
