Your Crystal Palace
You could have spoken more sweetly
But you may have spoken too soon
Watching as it came from the moon
It was way too late to change my tune,
Reports that came from the rifles of a platton
All the while as you licked your silver spoon
Entertaining some dealer just outside of Cancun
Out of sight just like the USS Typhoon,
The other side of life so neatly cocooned
While your crystal palace so finely festooned
I fear it's our future they have doomed
Raise your glass anyway inside the gloom,
A toast to the unknown soldier's tomb
Predestined from the time he left the womb
Thought I saw you staring from across the room
You were a bit shaken by that sonic boom,
Not a good idea striking the bear with a broom
A very hard lesson to learn but never assume
It's apparent an inescapable war seems to loom
It's way too late for the bride and the groom,
You could have spoken more sweetly
But you may have spoken too soon
Watching as it came from the moon
It was way too late to change my tune,
I think it's the season for the monsoon
Stuck on this island all wet and marooned
Better than dealing with fools and buffoons
I was drunk and clinging to the pontoon,
Really my dear you don't have to leave so soon
I know I'm about as entertaining as an old cartoon
Maybe it was that thing that came out of the moon
Then I fell backwards on that steep sand dune,
Watching babies sniff flowers in full bloom
Never trust your lover never assume
The future is deadly it may come too soon
You in your crystal palace so finely festooned.
