6/22/2015 -- NASA 'accidentally' DRAINS the Van Allen Belts -- STS-75 'Tether Incident'

It appears that NASA actually DRAINED one of the protective Van Allen Radiation belts surrounding Earth. This experiment was done, and was successful. No dou...

First of all, please check your sources before you post. This is not a video from NASA. It's a simulation made by a startup company that put this together hoping to get funding. Their "products" have no basis in reality, and neither does this video. Ridiculous.

I've never heard of this idea, this caught me off guard this morning. When I said radioactive particles above that should read charged particles. Also 'drain' is the wrong term for what's proposed by http://www.tethers.com/hivolt.html The charged tether(s) pushes the particles out of the orbit they exist in depending on tether altitude. Repel would be more accurate than drain.

Let me rephrase. Watched some of the video, to "drain" a portion of the belt you have to connect to earth. The billions that it would cost to remove it would be spent in vein as it would come right back when you turned the power off. Guy in the video claims the planets fate depends on shutting the NASA tether down LOL says climate change is caused by this one experiment.
Conspiracy's run wild.

The ionosphere can be discharged but the van allen belts are made up of radioactive particles from the sun. It's held in place by earths magnetic field you can't 'drain' it. Someone got confused here
