A man who blew up his TESLA - Tesla Model S & 30kg dynamite makes impressive fireworks.

His new Tesla worked like a miracle till 1500km. Then the problems started. It turned out that the most important part of the car, the battery had failed and the guarantee did not apply to it. His Tesla Model S became useless piece of junk. It was not ever certain if the battery replacement at €20000 would be possible. So, what do you do with such and expensive piece of junk in your garage? Find someone foolish enough to buy it? It was probably after many restless nights that he finally decided to make a memorable fire works show. It was the first time in history when a Tesla electric vehicle was blown up, with Elon Musk model doll inside. You have to see this video and be sure to read the comments in Youtube before they take it down. The explosion is shown in slow motion too. Very impressive.

@  Less Prone - On reflection, I think it likely that the battery wasn't present. That's the key thing that would cause the problems.

Plus the Tesla itself was prepared for destruction in the most professional way possible.

In the slow motion video, you can see the body of the car was cut / shattered by det-cord prior to those main dynamite charges going off.

Plus I imagine all those folks watching would have helped in the clean up.

I enjoyed it, and I liked the message it sent to these holier than thou corporations. I certainly don't think it was irresponsible.

The Tesla owner seemed to be a stand up guy. I'd buy him a drink.

DTOM. Was it irresponsible? Certainly. But the story does not tell if they had taken the battery out, I certainly hope so. Yes the guy has junttish traits, but a full-fledged juntti would not buy a Tesla. In general a Juntti is a person with bad manners and not very well off.  It's a bit hard to classify him. Maybe he's  a new breed of old juntti mixed with halfhearted greening and ignorance.

Less Prone - would you say that guy qualifies as 'juntti'?

You Finns never do anything by half!

As much as I am a fan of blowing stuff up, the problem here is that older Tesla cells are comprised of Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum-Lithium.

They not only emit EMF radiation, but I dread to think what the effects of all that post explosion debris would have on the local environment.

Won't someone please think of the Mumintrollet?

Worst case scenario - Cobalt, if subjected to a thermo nuclear explosion (dirty bomb in urban environment) transmutes cobalt (think of all the phone, laptop, car etc batteries) that contain cobalt) to the radioactive cobalt-60, which following the blast then condenses , falls back to earth and contaminates and kills every living thing.

The effects of which are worse than any horror film you can imagine.

it would take about 130-150 years before it would decay to less than 0.4 μSv/hour (natural background radiation)

Tesla claim they are not going to use cobalt in future cells.
