My ex, a surgeon's assistant, wanted to go with Doctors Without Borders to an African country to help the women there. They often get infections after childbirth due to lack of sanitary conditions. Since they are then of little use to the male of the species, the husbands stake them to the ground out back of the hut, where hyenas take care of the problem, for good. Some survive, but have been mauled in the face. Thankfully, I talked her out of going. I'm glad they are now enriching our country with their vibrant culture.
