Hey All,

I would like to add a couple of thoughts, first off as far as meat &veggie storage we can(mason jars) ours it's pretty easy to get a pressure cooker and learn to use it. Food is easily stored for 10 or more years with no need for electricity and comes out tasting as good as the day it went in the jar. Secondly  TOILET PAPER will be more valuable than GOLD in a shtf situation, you can live without a lot of creature comforts but a bit of charmin is priceless.

Good idea guys, Stock up on food supplies, -that will also be tradable for other supplies or labour, in any adverse situation. If you're not into shopping then go hunting for game, prepare and freeze it, for long storage. (with back up generator). I like to stock up on alcohol,- (which I can make myself as required, no Limit - and give as a gift ) and tobacco (which I can grow myself- 15 kG limit- 18 + per year - at any one time, plus make lots of friends) Very tradable- (as a gift of cause, unprocessed, naturally) I've already given this idea a test run and it Works, you'll receive most of what you need, in exchange from others. JR don't go whole hog on the fish thing in case you change your mind and want to swop for beans in the future, then find everyones stocked on the same fish and there's a bubble. If you go Real Stack Up for fish then check out quantity that your country likes to eat as a guide. As for the peanut butter Don't give Any of that away, you'll need all those BCAAs for the fight to survive. The more the Better, very good for diabetics too. Lets hope coronavirus or any other disaster does not catch us out.

steve - Don't forget Corexit from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill catastrophe. Not sure if it's far enough from where tuna fish are to not end up in our stomachs. I wonder also if they are contaminated with mercury. I'm not really an eater of beans or cornbread, but I like peanut butter and fried potatoes. I'm a big beef fan, but it's not cheap enough for me to stock up on.

Hey James, I love tuna (starkist in oil) but have really curbed my consumption since fukushima, I eat gobs of peanut butter and potatoes ,nothing better than a big pot of pinto beans with hamhocks  fried taters and the wifeys cornbread.

I'm going to stock up on canned tuna in a few days (maybe 75 to 100 cans at 69 cents apiece), and also am going to get a store of food for my Dad and his wife. It is just common sense. Protein sticks to the ribs better than most vegetables, you won't have to eat as often. Beans and peanut butter are good as well. However, I've read that sweet potatoes have more necessary nutrition by weight than any other vegetable.
