Only a defenceless person would get nervous of this kind of a weapon making a hell of a noise to attract attention. It's like telling everybody, "Hey, I have gun, I'm coming to kill you." This is a minimal thread to an organized army.

In an automated  war battlefield robot's are managed by a control system that can recognize location of all gun shots, recognize hostile fire, direct fire to any location in less than a second, and destroy the source of fire. It's not practical, under such circumstances, to invest a lot on a single shooting device. All weapons will be eliminated by an immediate barrage of bullets and grenades.

It is much more efficient to have the battlefield equipped by unmanned, high power, cheap, single shot weapons that are automatic or controlled from a safe bunker. Automated fire can be triggered by infra-red sensors, mechanical triggers or they can be anti-armour or  anti-personnel mines. They can explode, shoot bullets, arrows, grenades, rockets, napalm, inflammable liquids or gas or shrapnel or a combination of all these.
